In The Bleak Midwinter

Yule Celebration

WHO: EVERYONE
WHAT: Yule Celebrations
WHEN: late December
WHERE: Everywhere
NOTES: get your horse heads on it's time to go caroling

I. Wassail, Wassail

Every year on Midwinter's evening, one person runs out in the middle of the street with a massive wooden cup, wearing their most festive accoutrements, and starts to sing. Traditionally, this is the signal for everyone else to join them, and before too long there's a cheerful mob going door to door bestowing blessings upon those who gives them something hot (and boozey) to drink.
Depending on how much has already been imbibed, refusal to participate might result in a curse or three, and this is all taken very seriously.

[Please indicate in a toplevel if your character is singing, opening their door to listen, or hiding under a table. Threadhopping encouraged.]

II. They'll Feast and They'll Feast and They'll Feast Feast Feast Feast

When the wassailing ends, in the town square rages a bonfire, flanked by long tables filled with food brought by anyone willing to cook it. There's music, dancing, decorations of straw and holly, costume and pageantry, and while the celebrations in Northcliff Pass are generally more sedate than farther down the mountain, the stresses of daily living are enough that cutting loose to party in the snow is a welcome reprieve for most.
This is, after all, the best time to show deference to the gods, and the Wild Hunt makes no distinction between indoors or out when it comes to humbling those who feel they have better things to do.

[Threadhop here too tbh]

III.'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free

Throughout the month, small tokens are given between friends and family for good luck in the coming year. They can be offered in person or left for them to find, but spending quality time is usually the end goal.

[This is the place to play out gift exchanges if you feel so inclined!]
