Lorne leaves the matter of pets aside, for now. Dain broaching the subject of Detlef's Vice is more important to follow. He returns the Shepherd's puzzlement with impassivity. A neutral front is better, no matter the uneasiness rattling around in his ribcage.

"Punishments should match the crimes," Lorne says simply. Written law is not the same as justice, though this is more dangerous to voice aloud even in friendly company. "A tool is a tool; how a person chooses to use it determines whether it is good or ill. You're safe from and with me, I promise." He turns his gaze to Detlef, nods.
