"Butchers get used to killing animals, I guess," he says slowly. He'd never really thought about it, about killing so many times that it doesn't get to you. Or even seeing killings so many times. Were Shepherds like that? They'd killed so many times that it didn't bother them? Or did they ever care in the first place?

"And I don't..." he sighs. How does he say this safely? "It never seems like the Profane they catch and kill are able to toss off a spell like that. Otherwise, how would a Shepherd catch and hold them?"
